The resolution to oppose the establishment of the operation of a race track in this area was presented and discussed freely, then passed without an opposing vote. The members of this church showed indignation that the "harness race track" had been approved. John Roy Hilton, niece of Mrs. E. J. Perry of Vinton and Mrs. O.

J. Blair cf Sulphur, was killed in a non-collision automobile wreck in Hattiesburg, Miss. Feb. 26. Mrs.

Hilton and her husband were enroute to their home in Hattiesburg, from New Orleans where her husband is employed. Her husband was asleep at the time and Mrs. Hilton was driving. There were no witnesses to the accident, but according to state troopers investigating, the accident occurred in a hilly country where cattle were grazing near the highway. A wood fire was burning at the time and it is presumed she must have lost control of the car as she tried to avoid the cattle.

Her husband received several broken ribs and collar bone, but is not in a serious condition. Mrs. Hilton, the former Sammy Thompson, resided with her aunt, Mrs. Perry in Vinton, in 1944 while she attended Vinton high school one term. She is survived by her husband, two sons, John Roy, 6, and David her mother, Mrs.

Mary Thompson of Hattiesburg, Miss. and several aunts and uncles. Mrs. Blair and Mrs. Perry attended the funeral services.
