A woman says her good looks are a blessing and a curse. While her beauty has helped her to garner more than 2.6 million followers on Instagram, and become a successful influencer, it has also attracted unwanted attention too.

Ju Isen says she is inundated by men every time she goes to the gym, supermarket, pharmacies and even the swimming pool. She is so tired of being approached that she has decided to take action – wearing a fake engagement ring to show others she is not available. The sneaky tactic has been working for her for more than a decade, so she doesn't plan to stop any time soon.

The Brazilian bombshell, 39, said: “I was tired of the constant approaches – it was nonstop, even when I clearly wasn’t interested. So I put on a simple ring on my left hand, and it was like hitting a mute button.

“Even if it’s not real, it is a deterrent to being approached. It has worked for years. It is just visible enough to keep people from coming up to me.

“The way guys look at me changed as soon as I started wearing it, and they now think twice before saying anything. It has influenced how I’m treated in places like the gym or bars.”

Ju recalled one particular moment when the strategy worked perfectly. She said: “I was at the pharmacy and a guy started making small talk. But the second he saw the ring, he stopped immediately.

“He asked if I was married, I just smiled, and he said ‘Got it, sorry,’ and walked away. It was respectful, and I got to keep my peace.”

The influencer says she started wearing the gold piece of jewellery at just 23 years old.

Ju said: “I still wear it to this day and it’s become part of my routine. It’s not about tricking anyone – it’s about setting boundaries.

“It’s a quiet way of saying, ‘I’m not available for this kind of interaction’ And the most interesting part? It still works.”

Ju has taken the occasional break from wearing the fake ring – but believes men are less likely to approach nowadays because of dating apps. She fears technology has put a stop to fun banter.

She said: “Men today no longer have the initiative they once had. It’s like they’re unmotivated.

“Even the bad pickup lines that used to annoy me have become rare. Technology killed flirting.

“Nowadays, everyone just waits for a match on a dating app. No one makes eye contact, no one approaches naturally anymore. And that makes relationships feel more empty and mechanical.”

Despite moaning that flirting has gone out the window, Ju insists she doesn't miss being flagged down on the street.

The model added: “People sometimes ask if I miss the attention, and honestly? I don’t. At least not that kind of attention.

“I prefer peace, if a man is really interested, he’ll have to go beyond the obvious. And if I’m interested too, I’ll just explain I’m not actually married. The ring has become more than just an accessory, it’s a filter.”
