City of Children Mission Trip Planned for July 2012

We are coming Adriana! … It’s nice to hear she’s looking forward to another visit, because we already have the dates for next year’s Mission Trip to the City of Children. Mark your calendar for July 21-27. Questions, see Paul Teeter or Jeff Partain.

(Jeff Partain and Paul Teeter will be attending the annual City of Children Leader’s Meeting, January 27-29, to plan the summer trip.)

Summer mission trip to Mexico

We are planning an informational meeting in February to discuss our summer mission trip to Mexico. Be sure to come, have your questions answered and sign up for this amazing trip. Costs will be less than $200 per person for a week of food, housing and transportation…that’s without fundraising which should bring the costs down even more!

Save the dates July 23-29th and keep your hearts open to God’s calling.

Handling the Holidays Grief Seminar

Coping with the holidays is hard enough, but if you are also grieving the loss of a loved one the stress can be overwhelming, because everything has changed and life and the holidays will never be the same. That is why this annual seminar is so valuable in helping those who are grieving to let go of the pressure of ‘tradition’ and others’ expectations and find new ways to celebrate and find joy in the holidays, while keeping close the memories of those we’ve lost … The seminar, presented by Steve Kay, will be held Sunday, November 21, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., at the Weisser Education Pavilion at Redlands Community Hospital. A memorial service and dove release will be part of the afternoon activities. Call 335-5643 to register. (There is no charge).

City of Children – December 2010 Mission Trip

We need to finalize numbers for the December 4th and 5th trip to City of Children. Once we have numbers we can work out how we are getting down there and preparing meals, etc. We will be partnering with the Murrietta Church of Christ as they will be there that same weekend.

The cost is only $10 per person but we need to know ASAP who will be going. Please RSVP to Jeff Partain by Sunday, November 14, 2010.

Taking Christmas Cheer South of the Border… Saturday, December 4, and Sunday, December 5, we’re joining members of the Murrieta Church of Christ for a quick visit to the City of Children to spread a little Christmas cheer. We’ll leave very early on Saturday morning, and will be back across the border before sunset Sunday evening. All you need is a passport. Please see Paul Teeter or Jeff Partain.

Operation Christmas Child

Ready to start packing a shoe box? Select a prewrapped shoe box from under our tree or bring in your own wrapped shoe box and join us filling shoe boxes to donate to Operation Christmas Child. Donate shoe boxes by Sunday, November 14.

HOW TO PACK A SHOE BOX

1. SHOE BOX

INSTRUCTIONS &
LABELS

Click on image to download.

Use an empty shoe box (standard size, please) or a small plastic container. You can wrap the box (lid separately), but wrapping is not required. Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift.

2. BOY OR GIRL?

Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child’s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Print out the appropriate boy/girl label by downloading the artwork to the right. Mark the correct age category on the label, and tape the label to the top of your box.

3. FILL WITH GIFTS

Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child. Use the gift ideas provided on the bottom of this page.

4. INCLUDE YOUR DONATION

Please donate $7 or more for each shoe box you prepare to help cover shipping and other project costs. You can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box. If you or your family are preparing more than one shoe box, please make one combined donation.

5. DROP OFF

Bring you prepared shoe box to church and place it under the Christmas tree with the other donated shoe boxes by Sunday, November 14.
