Our Members

Who are the Members of the Redlands Church of Christ?

Those who:

  1. State their trust in Jesus of Nazareth as Lord and Savior of their lives,
  2. Express their faith in Jesus through immersion in water,
  3. Make known their desire to be considered as a member of this congregation and accept the God-given responsibilities of membership.

Responsibilities of Membership in the Redlands Church of Christ

Love God With All Your Being (Mark 12:30)

  1. Singularly Seek God (Jeremiah 29:13)
  2. Seek to be conformed to the Image of Christ through:
    • Praying regularly
    • Reading, studying, and meditating on the Bible (I Peter 2:2)
    • Living by the Spirit of God. (Galatians 5:16)
  3. Check your Spiritual Growth Regularly (Hebrews 6:1; I Corinthians 13:5)

Love the Members of the Congregation (John 13:34)

  1. Encourage and build up the members (I Thessalonians 5:11)
  2. Serve the members with your spiritual gifts (Romans 12:1-2)
  3. Don’t gossip about or in any way tear down the members (James 4:11)
  4. Be honest with each other (Galatians 5:16)
     

    • Confess your sins to at least one other member (James 5:16)
    • Confess your fears to other members (II Corinthians 11:1-15; 12: 20-21)
    • Confront other members when needed, respectfully and with love (Ephesians 4:15,25)

Love your neighbors (Matthew 22:39)

  1. Fulfill the priestly role of praying for your neighbors (I Peter 2:4-5, 9)
  2. Share good news with your neighbors; invite them to our meetings (Acts 8:4)
  3. Warmly welcome nonmembers
  4. Serve our neighbors with your gifts (Romans 12:1-12; Galatians 6:10)

Love the Church by Supporting Its Activities (Ephesians 5:25)

  1. Submit to its leaders (even your respectful disagreement) (Hebrews 13:17)
  2. Attend end the church’s meetings (Hebrews 10:14)
  3. Give as you are blessed (II Corinthians 8:1-9; 15)
  4. Pray for the church’s work Ephesians 6:18-20)

  • Love (do the best for) each other-John 13:34 & fifteen other occasions
  • Greet each other–Romans 16:16, I Corinthians 16:20, II Corinthians 13:12, I Peter 5:14
  • Edify (build up) each otherRomans 14:19,1 Thessalonians 5:11, Ephesians 4:16, Jude 20
  • Encourage each otherRomans 1:12, I Thessalonians 5:11, Hebrews 3:13
  • Bear with (put up with) each otherEphesians 4:2, Colossians 3:13
  • Forgive each other, as Christ forgave you–Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:13
  • Have the same concern for all members–I Corinthians 12:25
  • Serve each other with your gifts–I Peter 4:10
  • Serve (be enslaved to) each other–Galatians 5:13
  • Carry each others’ burdens–Galatians 6:2
  • Speak truthfully to each other–Ephesians 4:25
  • Be kind (easily useful, as opposed to harsh) to each other–Ephesians 4:32
  • Be compassionate to each other–Ephesians 4:32
  • Submit to each other–Ephesians 5:21
  • Consider others better than yourself–Philippians 2:3
  • Spur each other on to love and good works–Hebrews 10:24

  • Wash each others’ feet–John 13:14
