Membership Covenant

Member’s Covenant With the Congregation

As a member of the body of Christians known as Redlands Church of Christ, I will:

Love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.

  1. I will wholeheartedly seek after God.
  2. I will seek to allow God to shape me to the likeness of Christ.
    • I will spend time in God’s presence, talking with him and listening.
    • I will listen to God, reading, studying and meditating on his Word.
    • I will live by the Spirit of God
  3. I will grow spiritually.

II. Love other Christians, actively seeking their good.

  1. I will encourage and build up other members.
  2. I will use my God-given gifts to serve other Christians.
  3. I will not slander or put down other Christians.
  4. I will be honest.
    • I will confess my sins to at least one other brother or sister.
    • I will confess my fears to other Christians.
    • I will confront others when necessary, speaking the truth in love.

III. Love my neighbors who are not Christians.

  1. I will be a priest, praying for my neighbors.
  2. I will share good news of Jesus with my neighbors, inviting them to church.
  3. I will warmly receive our neighbors at our church meetings.
  4. I will serve my neighbors with the gifts God is giving me.

IV. I will love the church.

  1. I will submit (even my disagreements) to the church’s leaders.
  2. I will give as I have been blessed to support the church’s work.
  3. I will attend the church’s meetings.
  4. I will pray for the church’s leaders, work and other members.

Shepherds’ Covenant With the Members

We, the shepherds of Redlands Church of Christ, covenant with you to:

Know you.

  1. We will get to know who you are and your spiritual needs.
  2. We will check on your needs periodically.

Provide for you.

  1. We will provide spiritual food-Biblical teaching.
  2. We will provide for your emotional needs.
  3. We will provide for emergency physical needs.
  4. We will provide training in using your spiritual gifts.
  5. We will release you if you leave us.

Care for the congregation.

  1. We will keep the flock together, promoting unity.
  2. We will promote the growth of the congregation.
  3. We will protect you from outside harm.
  4. We will protect you from unruly members.

Be spiritual leaders to you.

  1. We will be respectable examples of Godly and spiritual living.
  2. We will provide spiritual direction to you and the congregation.
  3. We will work with you with our gifts.
  4. We will fight beside you against spiritual enemies.
